PC Pitstop has outgrown another location! So we packed up everything and moved just 400 Meters around the corner from our old store to our brand new location at 2/10 Bellbowrie Street Port Macquarie.

We needed more room - twice as much in fact and our lovely customers needed more room to park - the solution - this brand new state of the art facility with easy street and pitstop parking.

The team loves the new location - bigger check-in bench, workshop space for 24 devices to be reapired at once, conference and training facilities, boadroom, dedicated staff relaxation room, kitcken, fully ducted air conditioning and state of the art alarm and video survelance facilities.

Do you love PC Pitstop?

NSW Fair Trading’s popular I love my local business competition is back for 2014.

In its work to promote a fair marketplace, Fair Trading recognises that the vast majority of local businesses do the right thing and play a critical role in the local community. That is why NSW consumers are being encouraged to nominate their favourite local business by telling Fair Trading, in 60 words or less, what they love about them and why. There are six prizes of $250 to be won!

Consumers can nominate a local business which goes out of their way to do the right thing by their customers. It might be because of their excellent customer service, or the fact they proudly sponsor charitable and community causes; it might simply be that they are really good on the tools or have the funkiest retail shop in town!

All shortlisted entries will be promoted on Fair Tradings Facebook page, which has close to 40,000 followers. Shortlisted and winning entries may attract local media interest.

We have also created some resources for businesses to use to help them promote the competition to their customers, including a downloadable poster, web images and more. Go to the I love my local business page on the Fair Trading website to find out more.

The competition runs from Monday 13 October – Sunday 9 November 2014.

For more information and to enter go to Fair Trading’s Facebook page at www.facebook.com/FairTradingNSW

Thank you For Shopping at PC Pitstop

livelocal2

Here’s what else you just did:

1. You kept dollars in Port Macquarie-Hastings.

Independent businesses make an economic contribution that is two to three times greater than that of national retailers (Price Waterhouse Coopers, 2007).

2.
You supported local suppliers.

Multi-nationals rarely use local suppliers as they are frequently bound by head-office purchasing contracts.

3.
You embraced our point-of-difference.

And helped to make Port Macquarie-Hastings a destination for visitors and tourists. This benefits us all.

4. You helped our precious environment.

Local product means fewer transportation miles, and reduces tonnes of pollution and packaging.

5.
You helped to create jobs.

Small local businesses In Port Macquarie-Hastings are by far our largest employers.

6.
You helped our community develop.

Local businesses donate to local causes at more than twice the rate of nationally owned firms.

7.
You invested in local entrepreneurship.

Creativity and uniqueness will continue to be an important bedrock of Port Macquarie-Hastings’ future prosperity.

8.
You invested in the local economy.

Competition and diversity leads to more consumer choices in the long-term.

9.
You supported a local business committed to Customer Care.

You built upon the reputation of this area as the Number One Service Excellence area in Australia

(Customer Service Institute of Australia Awards).

Herons Creek, the sprawling township that once appeared a sleepy hollow, is returning to its former glory as a significant area in Australia’s pioneer timber cutting industry.

Times have changed and the time is now to show Herons Creek for the vibrant and diverse destination that it is!
With the support of the Kendall Heritage Society, The Herons Creek Community Group are establishing a self-drive Heritage and Tourist Trail throughout the district, displaying stories of early pioneers and landmarks of significance, tourist sites and local businesses for locals and visitors alike to enjoy.

The Trail gives Herons Creek a public identity that, in turn, will promote growth in tourism, accommodation and business activity in the district. It will help to educate local primary school students, providing an appreciation of past residents and their stories. Most importantly, the Trail will boost pride in a township which had all but lost its sense of community and spirit of connectedness.

That is why we need your support - individuals and businesses alike. It is imperative that we be able to move forward with the various stages of the trail – most especially long-lasting, safe and informative signage.
ALL OUR GENEROUS SPONSORS WILL HAVE THEIR LOGO/NAME APPEAR ON ONE OF OUR TRAILS SIGNS, GUARANTEED TO REMAIN IN SITU FOR 5YEARS, AS WELL AS ON OUR SPONSORS PAGE AND FACEBOOK PAGE.

If you share our aim to protect Australia’s pioneering villages and people, then it is vital that you support our ongoing work on the Herons Creek Heritage and Tourist Trail. Please give your gift today.

CALLING FOR DONATIONS

Help out our star triathlete Robert Johnston to raise money for sufferers of Multiple Sclerosis
in the upcoming 2013 Gong Ride.

pcpitstop-sydney-gong-ride-donations

Hi All!

I have been invited to take part in the 2013 Gong Ride, as part of the Knorr-Bremse Sigma team, in order to raise funds for people affected by Multiple Sclerosis (MS). The ride is a scenic 90km spin starting at Sydney Park, St Peters, and finishing at Stuart Park, Wollongong.

MS is the most common disease of the central nervous system and affects more than 23,000 Australians.

Did you know?

* The average age of diagnosis of MS is typically between 20 and 40 years of age

* MS affects three times as many women as men

MS Australia aims to minimise the impact of multiple sclerosis on all individuals affected by the disease, as well as their families, carers and the community, by offering a wide range of services, equipment and support. MS Australia's goal is to assist everyone affected by MS to live life to their fullest potential and secure the care and support they need, until we ultimately find a cure.

Please DONATE by going to my donation page here:  http://register.gongride.org.au/2013-Sydney-to-Gong-Bike-Ride/RobJohnston and clicking on the red "Donate Now" button to the right and help MS Australia support all people affected by multiple sclerosis. Every little bit helps!

If you are curious, you can also check out the team's page here:  http://register.gongride.org.au/2013-Sydney-to-Gong-Bike-Ride/Knorr-Bremse++Sigma and see how much we have collectively raised towards this great cause.

Many thanks and kind regards,

Rob

[Judy Henry ]| [Owner] | [Salon Secrets]

Tell us about your business:

Salon Secrets is located away from the busy CBD in a shopping strip on Hastings River Drive just a few minutes from the CBD or the airport. Parking is available just out the front of our business.

We offer all beauty treatments as well as our wet/dry microdermabrasion for skin smoothing and rejuvenation plus chemical peels. Skin Needling is our speciality for collagen production to plump ageing skin.

What's been your most outstanding achievement?
Personal: I have recently published a children’s book “Woodland Stories for our Grandchildren” which I dedicated to our 2 sons.

Business:  One of my salon’s outstanding achievements is to have had my business plus 2 staff members nominated for Employer and Employee of the Year Awards over the years.  We did not win those awards, but to me success is a journey doing what you love doing whilst continuing to strive for satisfaction and excellence. I was the first person in NSW to achieve our association’s inaugural accreditation for nail artistry. I have had enormous pleasure in teaching, mentoring and guiding students and staff to achieve their goals in whatever direction they may lay.

How do you WOW your clients?

With immediate acknowledgement and a welcoming attitude upon them entering our salon. No-one is left waiting...ever. We are on-time, every time as we consider it an insult to our clients if we waste their precious time. It’s a little thing that they really appreciate.

We use Bio Towels (completely biodegradable) in all our salon services, from hand and foot towels to bed linen. The same applies to nail files which are discarded after each use for manicures and pedicures.

The above are just a few of the WOW factors clients enjoy in our salon.

What are your top 3 technology tips?

I’m not techno savvy so I get the experts in but I can’t do without our Salon Spa Software system and with continued training I will be able to make more use of this great system such as live on-line bookings and Gift Voucher purchases. Product purchases are available now with discounts and free P & H in Australia. Our program is on auto back-up daily.

I have my own website and Facebook page but I’m getting professional help in this area.

What can't you live without?

My smartphone and internet. It goes without saying my husband, grown sons and family.

What value and benefit have you or your business gained by being a client of PC Pitstop?

Whenever I have needed to ‘phone your company with a query, I am greeted with a very friendly person who is only too happy to assist in any way they can. There is never any laying-down of blame if something goes wrong at our end, and they will only recommend products that they know will help my business.

The other day we gladly gave away an ex-lease laptop to a very special Port Macquarie family. Their story is a tear-jerker and their hearts are big. For people that ask for nothing...this was the least we could do.

pcpitstop port news jun13

A PORT Macquarie boy will make history as the first child with Hunter syndrome in Australia to have a bone marrow transplant.

This week marks the start of Jace Knowles’ treatment at Westmead Children’s Hospital.

The three-year-old will have his bone marrow harvested, and stored, followed by chemotherapy and a bone marrow transplant containing cord blood, the richest source of enzymes and cells.

Hunter syndrome, a rare degenerative condition, is causing Jace’s organs to shut down.

Mick and Tara Knowles hope the transplant will help prevent further deterioration of their son’s bones, organs, brain and muscles.

Mrs Knowles will spend about five months in isolation with Jace followed by a stint living in a unit outside of the hospital when Jace will be monitored daily.

The community has embraced the Knowles family.

A computer package donation from Port Macquarie business PC Pitstop is the latest act of kindness.

“It’s an absolute lifeline,” Mrs Knowles said about the computer.

“We were so shocked, it was unbelievable.”

The laptop will help Mrs Knowles keep in touch with her husband and children Tyla, 12, Elise, 10, and four-year-old Lacey, and will allow her to continue studying medical administration while in Sydney.

Jace can watch movies and play games on the computer when he is well enough.

Port Macquarie MP Leslie Williams helped link the family with services and approached PC Pitstop to assist the family to stay in touch.

Mrs Williams said the Knowles family was one of many families with children who had additional needs.

“The whole community spirit is just so inspiring,” she said.

PC Pitstop owner Ben Waters said the family’s story played on their heartstrings.

“They never ask for anything and they are staying so bright, chirpy and positive,” he said.

A fundraising committee from Columba Cottage Early Learning Centre has collected $25,000 and aims to double that by the end of the year.

About six staff will help look after the girls at times so the family can have as normal a routine as possible.

Jenna Clapton from Columba Cottage Early Learning Centre said Jace was mature beyond his years with an infectious personality.

Port Macquarie City Lions Club and a Lions foundation provided $7500 towards a car lift, and Variety the Children’s Charity came on board too.

Mrs Knowles said she was amazed at the town’s support.

“We are just so appreciative and thankful for everything,” she said.

“Without them, this time would have been a lot harder for us.”

She thanked Mrs Williams, her senior advisor Terry Sara and PC Pitstop for their help with the computer donation and the community as well.

Thanks to the Port News for this story and image.

[Kerrie Eggins]| [Owner] | [Inland Hunting Properties]

Tell us about your business: We are a business which has been around since 1992. We organise hunting tours in Australia.

All shooters must have their relevant state shooters licenses and we also accept bow hunters and some properties are available to doggers.

Some properties make sure all who enter their property are members of a hunting club also.

Feral animals are a massive problem to farmers livestock and crops. Our hunters help to keep these numbers down.

What's been your most outstanding achievement? Our hunters have actually come across poachers who enter the properties illegally and the owners have been able to prosecute them.

How do you WOW your clients? We have clients in the owner of the property and also the hunters themselves. By giving honest advise to the hunters on relevant game activity. We also look after our regular hunters and notify them when we have a new property become available for the first time. They will be the first people we send there. Our property owners are very happy to have responsible hunters through our company helping them with their feral problems.

What are your top 3 technology tips? Keep all data with a good back-up system. Have a specialised IT team who you trust. After all, they are the ones we need if something goes wrong and it can affect business stoppages. Make sure anti-virus is up to date.

What can't you live without? Phone and Emails!

What value and benefit have you or your business gained by being a client of PC Pitstop? Ben and the team have protected our business computer systems for many years. They offer second to none in promptness and attitude to our problems. They
are always diligent in the service they provide and will follow up with feedback on the performance of their employees.

It is part of the ingrained culture of PC Pitstop to be passionate about the places where we come from, the places we live in and the people we share it with. I grew up on the Mid North Coast of Australia in a beautiful coast-meets-bush area called Camden Haven, part of the Port Macquarie-Hastings region.

Once a penal settlement, fishing village and home to a major part of the timber and logging industry in Australia, Port Macquarie-Hastings is now a thriving tourist centre and a popular sea-changers delight. There's a huge amount of activities to take part in and a growing number of shops to visit but the best attraction by far is mother nature's own.

PC Pitstop began in this region. Supported by the locals and visitors alike and thoroughly emersed in both the business and public community here, I was able to grow the world-class company as you know it today.

So to honour our local communities we put them on show. Here's the stunning view of part of the region from North Brother Mountain on our wall in the Port Macquarie Store:

PC Pitstop sends local athlete to World Championships

**STOP PRESS**

PC Pitstop sponsored Triathlete, Robert Johnston, is heading overseas to compete on an International level thanks to a generous donation from the local business.

Robert, an engineer and new dad, is busy training hard for the Ironman World Championships in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii happening on the 13th October this year. Thanks to the ongoing support of local business PC Pitstop, he’s now heading over with the whole family.

Scoring his spot with his incredible finishing time of 9:17:12 at Ironman Australia in Port Macquarie earlier this year Robs says, 'It was always my goal but it still blows me away that I actually achieved it. It takes a lot of dedication on my behalf and a lot of belief from people like the PC Pitstop crew. They’ve dug deep even in times of economic instability and that in itself says a lot about the company’s ethics.’

robert johnston dream

Beginning his sporting career in 2009 at the Camden Haven Triathlon, Robbie has focused his dreams, enhanced his training and embraced every opportunity to make it to the outstanding level he is at today.

That training involves going from 14hrs a week to up to 30hrs a week, improving endurance, speed, and core strength and including plenty of early morning bike rides, swims and runs. PC Pitstop owner Ben Waters, knows Robbie has what it takes, ‘His programs are intense, his dedication admirable and he is true winner through good sportsmanship. We couldn’t be more proud!’

The goal for Hawaii? ‘Just finishing this course will be challenging enough, but beating a few pros sounds like a good plan.’ We’ll be cheering you on from here Robert!
