Herons Creek, the sprawling township that once appeared a sleepy hollow, is returning to its former glory as a significant area in Australia’s pioneer timber cutting industry.
Times have changed and the time is now to show Herons Creek for the vibrant and diverse destination that it is!
With the support of the Kendall Heritage Society, The Herons Creek Community Group are establishing a self-drive Heritage and Tourist Trail throughout the district, displaying stories of early pioneers and landmarks of significance, tourist sites and local businesses for locals and visitors alike to enjoy.
The Trail gives Herons Creek a public identity that, in turn, will promote growth in tourism, accommodation and business activity in the district. It will help to educate local primary school students, providing an appreciation of past residents and their stories. Most importantly, the Trail will boost pride in a township which had all but lost its sense of community and spirit of connectedness.
That is why we need your support – individuals and businesses alike. It is imperative that we be able to move forward with the various stages of the trail – most especially long-lasting, safe and informative signage.
